I started out this day picking up the kids and heading home. We needed to get some clothes for Max and pick up our mail. For some reason the bills always seem to keep coming!
We were longer than I anticipated of course but Max's sister & 2 nieces stopped by. He was awake most of the day and is getting better and better at writing. His lungs are staying clear........except when he wants to drink with the sponge. They don't want him to swallow because it goes down in his lungs instead of into his stomach. He keeps trying and then starts coughing. The water in his lungs start his oxygen levels going down. I keep telling him to wait until he's at Rusk but he refuses. I asked him if was gong to keep trying and he nodded yes. It's good and it's bad to be so determined.
His numbers all look great, the white blood cell count is down and I sure hope we are heading to Rusk come Monday or Tuesday. I'm just ready to get his out of this icu. Hospitals are good but there are also so many infectious things in a hospital.
It's so hard to think about all the changes that will be coming into our lives until God has him walking again. Just looking around the house for the few minutes we were there.....so much to think about and do.
Oh well, time to remember one day at a time, don't anticipate and take on more than this day will handle.
Max is loving company, he perks up when people come by. I pray everyone remembers to visit when he is going through the tough stuff at Rusk. As soon as I know more I"ll let you all know.
Thanks so much for being there for us. Love, Sherry
